King Of The Dharma
( Sponsorship Packages )
Event Goals & Objectives:
1. Book Launch — King of the Dharma Book
The highly anticipated release of the second edition of the King of the Dharma book will be made available in paperback and ebook copies; and the hardcover book, printed in limited quantities and not-for-sale; gifted to sponsors for this event.
2. Gather Funds For Two Causes — Rashi Gempil Ling Buddhist Temple & Castle Rock Fund
2.1. Rashi Gempil Ling was founded by Gelug refugees and was involved in bringing Dalai Lama to the US for the first time in 1979 (a more complete history of the temple is found in the historical book entitled “King of the Dharma,” which is the history of the teacher of the First Dalai Lama). A non-profit Buddhist Temple based in New Jersey — the first Kalmyk Buddhist Temple in the US and the first Tibetan Buddhist worship center established in the western hemisphere.
In this temple Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tharchin had many students over the years, including Geshe Michael Roach. Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tharchin also founded the “Mahayana Sutra and Tantra Center of New Jersey” there in 1980 as a religious nonprofit entity for teaching Tibetan Buddhist philosophy.
The first temple was just a small garage that was used as a church, around 1952. Today, at the temple, Kalmyk members regularly gather for services, weddings and holidays, many of which are live streamed. In addition to its regular activities, supporting monks and temple upkeep, the temple also provides very low cost housing to needy people in the community.
Keeping Rashi Gempil Ling going is one thing, keeping up with its condition is another. The temple is falling apart, the list of items that need fixing is spilling over. In view of the long-time Covid19 situation, the cost of repair works has skyrocketed as skilled labor is now in demand. Just fixing all the windows saw a quotation of US$103,000.
The list is as follows:
• New windows (in the temple and main house)
• New windows (some – in the monk’s house)
• New gutters
• Reshingle the garage
• Old screen doors to be replaced
• Fix leaky roof in the main house
• Fix electrical issues in all houses
• Renovate one of the houses that is empty to offer more low-income housing to people in the community
2.2. The Castle Rock Fund was established in order to purchase a business — Castle Rock Mini Storage — that will generate profits to underwrite rent and utilities at the two-story head quarters in Sedona, Arizona, referred to as the Red Western Tower. The Red Western Tower building is home to [ALL] Asian Legacy Library and associated Worldview organizations.
The Castle Rock Fund will generate US$ 175,000 each year in profit. The purchase price for the Castle Rock Mini Storage is US$ 5.5 Million.
US$ 2.1 Million has been raised between 2018 and 2020, an additional US$ 1.3 Million was raised by the end of September 2021, making a total of US$ 3.3 Million.
The goal another US$ 1 Million before 2021 is over, leaving a balance of US$ 1.2 Million to reach the final goal for purchase of amount US$ 5.5 Million.
